1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies when you use the Quiz Vault website, its quiz library, accounts, leaderboards, public profiles, quiz requests, live rooms, Versus matches, notifications and related administration features (together, the Service).
You can browse and play many quizzes without creating an account. Some features save information on your device or require a signed-in account.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- your chosen player or display name;
- account details supplied by the sign-in platform, such as an account identifier, display name and email address;
- profile settings, visibility choices, favourites, follows, collections, goals and accessibility preferences;
- quiz requests, question reports, contact messages and other text you submit;
- an optional reply email address and optional screenshot when you use the contact form;
- Versus and live-room participation, including invite codes, player names and optional post-room ratings; and
- push-notification subscription details when you choose to enable notifications.
Gameplay and technical information
- quiz starts, answers, scores, timing, progress, achievements and completion history;
- leaderboard entries, multiplayer turns and Live Room reports, including question-level accuracy and response timing;
- a randomly generated browser session identifier used to keep guest progress, Live Room history and multiplayer access associated with the correct browser session;
- device, browser, network and request information ordinarily received by the Service and its hosting providers; and
- security, rate-limit, error, audit and operational records.
Please do not use a real name or include contact, sensitive or confidential information in a public player name, profile, quiz request or multiplayer invitation.
3. How we use information
Quiz Vault uses information only where reasonably needed to:
- provide quizzes, save and synchronise progress, personalise the library and operate accounts;
- run leaderboards, public profiles, live rooms and Versus matches;
- send notifications you request and allow shared invitations to work;
- review quiz requests, feedback and reports, correct content and moderate misuse;
- measure quiz quality and improve difficulty, reliability and user experience;
- prevent cheating, fraud, abuse and unauthorised access; and
- maintain backups, diagnose faults, comply with law and protect legal rights.
Quiz Vault does not sell personal information and does not use it for third-party behavioural advertising.
4. Public information
Player names, scores and result details may appear on leaderboards. A profile is public only when its visibility is enabled, and may show selected quiz activity, achievements and follows. Multiplayer participants can see names, turns and results within their match or room. Anyone who receives an invite code or link may be able to use it, so share invitations only with intended players.
6. Cookies and browser storage
Quiz Vault does not currently use advertising or third-party analytics cookies. The Service and its hosting platform may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies for security, authentication and reliable delivery.
Quiz Vault uses first-party local storage and browser caches for theme choice, a guest session identifier, player name, saved progress, favourites, follows, records, goals, accessibility and library preferences, offline quiz copies, pending score delivery and notification state. These features help the Service work and remember choices you make. You can clear site data in your browser, although doing so may remove guest progress, offline quizzes and multiplayer access stored only on that device.
The storage notice is shown to all first-time visitors because Quiz Vault does not attempt to infer or track a visitor’s precise location.
7. Retention and security
Information is kept only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above, including to maintain active accounts, gameplay history, leaderboards, multiplayer matches, moderation, backups, security and legal records. Retention varies by record type. Expired or abandoned multiplayer records may be removed automatically, while public scores and account history may remain until deleted, anonymised or no longer required.
Quiz Vault uses reasonable technical and organisational safeguards. No internet service or storage method is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
8. Access, correction and deletion
Signed-in users can use My Quiz Vault to update their player name and profile visibility, manage progress and clear cloud progress. Device-only information can be removed through Quiz Vault controls or by clearing this site’s browser data.
To request access, correction or deletion, or to make a privacy complaint, use the Quiz Vault contact form and include enough detail to identify the request without adding unnecessary sensitive information. Add an email address if you would like a response. Quiz Vault may need to verify your identity before acting. A complaint will be assessed and answered within a reasonable period. If an Australian privacy complaint is not resolved, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
9. Children and young people
Quiz Vault is a general-audience quiz service and does not ask children to provide contact details. Children and young people should use the Service with a parent or carer where appropriate, choose a non-identifying player name, and avoid submitting personal or sensitive information. A parent or carer may make an access, correction or deletion request on a child’s behalf where authorised.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy may change when the Service or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes may also be highlighted within the Service.
